Career Reinvention Resumes Tip One

Career Reinvention Resumes: Tip One-Find Your Focus by Randi Bussin | Sep 9, 2011 | Resume & Cover Letters | 0 feedback After a glorious summer time and plenty of enjoyable household time with my daughter, it is now time to get back to writing and sharing profession suggestions and strategies. The Fall is usually a time when individuals need to replace their resume for the busy Fall job search or an impending profession reinvention. I am starting off this Fall with a five-half blog collection on resume writing for career change. For these of you simply updating your resume, most of the suggestions and techniques apply, so take pleasure in. Focus, focus, focus. That’s what you need to do when you’re undergoing a career change and wish to redo your résumé. But, give attention to what? Well, earlier than you start writing your résumé, you have to focus in your new course. You will need to decide what place you want, what business is desirable, what location works for you, and mo st importantly, the way you need to be perceived by a prospective employer. Figuring out what positions and/or industries you’re focusing on will give your profession change résumé a focus. And, this focus will dictate what information you embrace, how, and where. Writing a career change résumé is all about producing an image of how you need to be perceived by a prospective employer. For instance, if you're an accountant who wants to transition to a publicity or advertising function for a nonprofit, your résumé will look different than if you have been seeking another accounting role. You will need to embrace features of your present place (the advertising issues you could have done), volunteer experience, or skilled coaching and translate these experiences. More particularly, when reinventing your career, you must “reweight” the knowledge you embrace in your résumé to be extra relevant to your new objective. You should translate what you could have carried out in your previous roles in such a means that a potential hiring manager immediately understands its relevancy to the place for which you're making use of. Why staff engagement matters to your business - Viewpoint - careers advice blog Viewpoint careers advice blog

Why staff engagement matters to your business - Viewpoint - careers advice blog It might come to you as common sense that good staff engagement is a vital contributing factor towards a high-performing organisation, but have you stopped to consider the definition of an engaged workforce and how, specifically, it can impact your business? An engaged workforce is typically one in which employees understand and are committed to an organisation’s values and objectives, and are passionately motivated to not only offer their very best at work but to go above and beyond to help achieve its goals. An engaged workforce doesn’t just happen. It’s a two-way process in which an organisation needs to work hard to engage its staff and, crucially, where employees themselves decide how engaged they will be in return. It’s a symbiotic relationship where both the employer and employee support each other; if one side fails to back the other, engagement levels deteriorate rapidly. In this blog, the first of a two-part series on staff engagement, I’ll address why engagement is important to employers, while in the next blog I’ll share some practical strategies, covering both intrinsic and extrinsic factors, you can take to improve your organisation’s employee engagement levels. How important is staff engagement? According to our ‘Staff Engagement, Ideas for Action’ survey of employers here in Australia, 83 per cent believed staff engagement is important to their organisation and a further 14 per cent said it is important ‘to some degree’; just 3 per cent said staff engagement is not important. While this report is only representative of a small portion of the global population, the vastly superior proportion of those who recognise the importance of staff engagement should be enough to convince you of how much a priority it needs to be for your business. Staff engagement should be a priority for your business, especially considering the current financial and skills climate in many large economies. As the 2015 Hays Global Skills Index shows, many countries are facing a severe shortage of candidates in high-skill industries. With skills in short supply, employers need to maximise their existing human capital investment. This makes staff engagement important for several reasons â€" here are four of the most impactful: 1. High staff retention Engaged employees are 87 per cent less likely to depart Firstly, an engaged workforce is more likely to be retained. In a candidate short market, competition for skilled professionals increases. But various studies have shown that an engaged workforce is less likely to be tempted by offers from your competitors and will have a higher retention rate than an unengaged workforce. One such study was by The Corporate Leadership Council and found that the most engaged employees are 87 per cent less likely to depart an organisation. Another by The Energy Project reported that employees who derive meaning and significance from their work are more than three times as likely to stay with their organisations. In our own regional survey, 88 per cent of respondents said an engaged workforce is more likely to be retained long-term than an unengaged workforce. A further 12 per cent agreed with this sentiment ‘to some degree’. 2. Increased productivity and innovation Secondly, an engaged workforce will be more productive and innovative than an unengaged workforce. Our own survey for the Australian market found that 98 per cent of employers believe an engaged workforce is more productive than an unengaged workforce, with the remaining 2 per cent agreeing ‘to some degree’. Meanwhile 90 per cent said an engaged workforce is more innovative, with the remaining 10 per cent agreeing ‘to some degree’. Not one respondent felt that there was no difference in terms of innovation between an engaged and unengaged workforce. According to the Workplace Research Foundation, highly engaged employees are 38 per cent more likely to have above average productivity. Meanwhile research from Insync Surveys shows engaged employees are almost five times more likely than disengaged employees to say their organisation is committed to bringing innovative products and services to the marketplace. The same research concluded that ‘disengaged employees actually act as a hand brake on your efforts to accelerate productivity and innovation’. 3. Bottom line boost Companies with engaged employees outperform those without by up to 202 per cent Thirdly, an engaged workforce impacts positively on an organisation’s bottom line. A study by Gallup found that companies in the top quartile for engaged employees, compared with the bottom quartile, have 22 per cent higher profitability and 10 per cent higher customer ratings. In addition a Dale Carnegie study found that companies with engaged employees outperform those without engaged employees by up to 202 per cent, while a study by Harvard Business Review concluded that an engaged workforce has a positive impact on business and financial performance. Our own survey found that 90 per cent of employers believe an engaged workforce has a greater positive impact on an organisation’s financial performance than an unengaged workforce. A further 9 per cent agreed this is the case ‘to some degree’. Just 1 per cent said there is no difference between the impact of an engaged and unengaged workforce on an organisation’s financial performance. 4. Proactive workforce Finally, a highly engaged workforce is willing to go the extra mile and put in discretionary effort. Temkin Group research shows that highly engaged employees are 2.5 times as likely to stay at work late if something needs to be done after the normal workday ends compared with disengaged employees. They’re also more than two times as likely to help someone at work even if they don’t ask for help, and more than three times as likely to do something good for the company that is not expected of them. In addition, Gallup found that highly engaged employees on average have 3.9 days off work sick per year, but their actively disengaged colleagues miss an average of 10.7 days sick per year. Get engaged Despite this our survey found that just 40 per cent of employers feel that the vast majority of their staff are engaged. For employers seeking to maximise their human capital investment, it’s therefore no wonder that employee engagement is one of the highest issues on the agenda. In the next blog you will find our ideas to inspire your staff engagement strategy. Hopefully you found this blog valuable. A decent method to get a heads up on this is to ask the business during your prospective employee meet-up about the planned time period to fill the position. On the off chance that you are told, for instance, fourteen days, at that point following three weeks it is a safe (in spite of the fact that not really consistently exact) presumption that the position has been filled. About seven days after the assessed fill date, it is suitable to inquire in with the enrollment specialist or employing administrator. This should be possible through email (as generally managers demand no calls) along the lines of I'm simply following up on the meeting. I delighted in catching wind of the position and am asking about where you are in the dynamic procedure. You might get a reaction; no reaction is normally an answer in itself. Now in the prospective employee meet-up process, you can securely proceed onward. Occupation dismissal #2: The mechanical reaction Different occasions, you may get an email illuminating you the activity has been filled. The best way to be certain it is an automated message (machine produced) is if the sender is set apart as 'noreply' or on the off chance that it says in the body of the email that it is a pre-programmed message and not to react. On the off chance that this occurs, you might possibly decide to react. In the event that you truly felt firmly about the position and felt a compatibility with the recruiting director, you may email the person in question and express that you got notice that the activity had been filled and expand great wishes and rehash your enthusiasm for the organization and any extra open doors that surface. Occupation dismissal #3: A human association On the off chance that somebody from the organization calls you or sends you an individual email to tell you they've chosen to go an alternate heading, view yourself as profoundly respected, as this doesn't occur all the time! Regardless of any failure or even angerthat you may feel about being dismissed, stay proficient and sincere. Make a point to express gratitude toward them for the individual consideration and, whenever justified, express your enthusiasm for being considered for future chances. Most importantly recall, that dismissals are not the apocalypse, they are only one bit nearer to getting your fantasy work! Prepared to secure your fantasy position? By applying the information gained below to product reviews, youll be able to find the right recorder to suit your needs in no time at all.Why get a digital voice recorder? If taking notes at lectures and working off written notes bores you, digital voice recorders are excellent for recording what your professor is saying, so you can focus on the lesson at hand while the voice recorder catches every moment for later revision. Are digital voice recorders expensive?Prices of digital voice recorders actually vary significantly, with some recorders on the market for about $50, while others easily market in the multiple hundreds of dollars. The reason for this is that there are many lower quality recorders on the market that can be yours at a very affordable price, if youre willing to sacrifice quite a bit of sound quality. That being said, while the sound quality might not be the best for the lower end recorders, its worth asking yourself exactly how you intend on using your voice recorder. If it is simply for memos and taking notes you may not need an expensive voice recorder. How do digital voice recorders work?Digital voice recorders are able to pick up on sound waves in the air through a microphone, converting the sound to analog electric signals. These signals are then pushed through an ADC (analog-to-digital) converter, and is then passed along as a digital signal using linear pulse code modulation. Points of the sound wave are then assigned a numerical value, where they can then be seen on a graph. Interestingly, when playing back audio the reverse happens, where a digital signal becomes an analog electric signal, which is pushed along a wire that vibrates the speaker, causing the air to vibrate. What does audio fidelity mean?Audio fidelity refers to the sound quality of a digital recording. Two aspects of audio fidelity we would like to talk about are sampling rate, and bit depth. The sampling rate  is how many times sound is recorded within a second. Imagine a sound that lasts exactly one second, and think about slicing that second up into smaller periods of time, moments of sound that can be captured, contributing towards a better sampling rate. Then we have the bit depth, which is basically just the quality of the sound that is recorded. This dictates the amplitude of the recorded sound wave, so the higher the bit depth the better for a more dynamic audio experience.Mono Vs. StereoYouve probably heard of these terms before, however we thought wed run through them briefly for anyone out there who is unacquainted with them. Mono and stereo refer to how sound is recorded. Mono recordings have only one track, and are typically the product of only microphone. Conversely, Stereo recordings are made with two microphones, which offer much more sound depth. There is no question th at stereo recordings sound closer to reality than their mono counterparts. However, this does make them more expensive.Image Source:  TASCAM Best Digital Voice Recorders (Reviewed June 2020) Best Digital Voice Recorders Buyers Guide Reviews 2020 best digital voice recorders review - image source: tascamRecording audio is becoming more and more popular in everyday life.
